Congratulations to the second cohort of staff from the Viking Academy Trust on Wednesday 6th May, completing their three-hour interactive online Youth Mental Health Aware Course on Wednesday. This is a fabulous investment of CPD time during the “lockdown” and ensures that 8 staff now return to their respective schools with increased awareness of the mental health needs of their students.

“Course was very informative. Dave was great!”

“I thought the course was very relevant, well thought out and presented very well. It was thought provoking and interesting – the time flew by because we were all engaged and even thoughit was presented virtually, I found it ran very smoothly”

“I think Dave did extremely well considering we were doing the training during a pandemic and it was on a zoom call. He put us at ease and I found the course very useful.”

“It was a very relaxed experience, which made me think about my own experiences and knowledge”

“I found this course very engaging and insightful. Thank you Dave Miller for a very interactive and thought- provoking session.”

“I really felt that the timing of this course for me was completely perfect. Sadly, increasingly and more recently, supporting children with mental health and wellbeing issues has increased in my workload and at times significantly impacted on what my daily timetable looks like as I have been called to support and nurture a child who is in need of help and nurture. My knowledge and understanding has grown, which will help me to more confidently deal with issues that arise. Another very valuable point I have taken from this course is just how critical it is to have staff teams who are mental health aware and able to step in as and when required. This I will take back to school and share not only both the Pastoral and Inclusion Team but also with ALL STAFF as they all have responsibility to ensure the well being and safeguarding of all our pupils. THANK – YOU Dave !”

Congratulations to our “graduates” from our first online Youth Mental Health Aware Course, delivered to colleagues from several schools within the Viking Academy Trust and from Trinity School, Sevenoaks. It was a pleasure to be able to discuss young people and their mental health from the comfort of your homes and empty workplaces!

Our next Youth Mental Health Aware course is running on
Monday 31st August
